freedomPosted by ManuelaR (Hainburg (Frankfurt/Main), Germany) on 19 September 2006 in Animal & Insect. We have a swan couple here on the Main river at the end of our street. Just cannot stop taking photos of them as everyday light & capture seems better than previous day. In May/June they built a nest and were taking turns on it. I regularly fed them on the nest with bread as during breeding they tend to starve. Here I was lucky to capture Mama swan going for a flight and swim after long hours sitting on the nest. For those interested they had 4 baby swans, from which 3 survived. Have tried to catch the "family life" but they are very protective and difficult to approach at the moment. Thanks for your valuable tips and/or constructive input!!

This is a great capture - keep them coming. I really wish I lived by some water besides the canal in Brussels! 19 Sep 2006 10:27am Madhusudhan Rao from Hyderabad, IndiaThis is really a great picture..Nice action shot. 19 Sep 2006 4:31pm Kelvin Chan from New York, United StatesWhat an experience! Hope they don't bite you too hard trying to protect their babies. As for the pictures, a slower shutter would probably make the swan less rigid and add a sense of motion. It's also great practice for panning. 20 Sep 2006 12:24am |
