Steinheim lake IPosted by ManuelaR (Hainburg (Frankfurt/Main), Germany) on 13 December 2006 in Plant & Nature. This used to be a digging place for stones & sand. The underground water formed this natural lake. Some years back, one could swim in it but after so many diving accidents from the bridge (the underground water levels vary a lot), it now became a protected natural environment & swimming is supposed to be forbidden. Hanau-Steinheim lake - Germany Thanks for your valuable tips and/or constructive input!!

Jason Kravitz from Brussels, Belgiumpretty lake and a lovely reflection. 13 Dec 2006 12:10pm @Jason Kravitz: Thanks Jason for your tips! My aim here though was to keep the natural colours as much as possible. But promise I will try further ;) @MnX: Merci de ta visite! @badala: Badala, I am glad you like it. Darren from JapanI noticed you said supposed to be forbidden, so what is it like to swim in? Nice shot mate 13 Dec 2006 3:09pm @Darren: Yes Darren, you noticed correctly. Generally some people and dogs still go swimming in there. Since it is a protected environment - honestly - I haven´t. But in the past, the water was always soooo cold and the currents were quite dangerous (remember, it´s coming from natural underground river). Thanks for your visit and interest. Duncan Galbraith from kyoto, JapanWhat a location! great take Manuela. The reflections really sets it off. It has a great stillness. 13 Dec 2006 3:39pm @Duncan Galbraith: In such a location you feel suddendly quite small! |
