1. Partnach Gorge

Posted by ManuelaR (Hainburg (Frankfurt/Main), Germany) on 22 October 2007 in Plant & Nature.

Taken at the Partnach Gorge (Partnachklamm) near Garmisch-Partenkirchen, Bavaria - Germany

This is a spectacular place! We felt a mix of wonder & fear and a lot of respect for Mother Nature... This gorge is about 1 km long and up to 80 meters deep.
The first challenge was to keep us and our cameras dry (did not dare take my brand new 400D out. My husband was braver) as the caves we went through were showered with waterfalls. Luckily we knew about this and had our hooded rain jackets with us; some people did not and they looked like wet rats.
The second challenge was to deal with the extreme light contrasts.
Should you ever be in the area, we strongly recommend this place, do not miss it! Meanwhile enjoy...

SPunkt visited the same place in deep winter, you must have a look at the very same place invaded by snow and ice!!!

Thanks for your valuable tips and/or constructive input!!

I can imagine more or less your experiences because you reminded me of ours with the Uina Schlucht in Switzerland. These gorges are really "gorgeous" and unforgettable! Good resolution of the contrast problem in your picture!
BTW the experiences can't be captured in a flat picture, how impressive these might be, one should really visit these places!

Bonito sentido de imponência perante um lugar tão forte e altivo e a pequenez humana. Bonita relação entre os dois elementos.
Parabéns.

@SPunkt: Hello! Wow, this must have been quite an experience it was already quite impressive but now with ice and snow... I am curious to see the rest!

I would like to link back to you but need your help: How to link your name to the exact date of the partnach gorge series? Thanks for your help ;)

SPunkt from -, Germany
