1. Linderhof Palace

Oberammergau, Bavaria - Germany

I am inviting you to join me on another journey (far less adventurous than the Partnach gorges posted previously): to the Linderhof Palace built by King Ludwig II of Bavaria. I must say that this Palace impressed me the most (from all his palaces & castles) due to the wonderful gardens and natural beauty surrounding the place. I will try to do it justice and truly hope you enjoy it.

I see so many skies Photoshopped, but this one's blue is really contributing to the picture's beauty because it emphasises the strong sculptures. I went to your link and was astonished once again about the exuberant exhibition of wealth of the rich nobility of those days, they must have been billionaires! On the other hand they employed many people, imagine what it took to make these sculptures! The sunlight emphasises their forms in a splendid way!

@Illuci: Hello Illuci! In fact King Ludwig II was quite well known for using only his own private money which is even more amazing in those days! His life is so interesting and there are still so many mysteries especially about his death. By the way the photo was left as taken so the sky is real, we were lucky for a few seconds the sun came out and I took well advantage of it. The rest of the day was unfortunately dull & dark. Wow, dear Manuela, I’m pretty excited, Linderhof Palace is a place still on my must-visit list which we still haven’t managed to see (we only managed to get to Neuschwanstein the last time we were in Germany)! Your image here is incredible, utterly FANTABULOUS!!!! I feel like I’m almost looking at it in person live! I’m really looking forward to following your series.
