Hohenschwangau and Neuschwanstein - Summer 2007

This is no masterpiece but it shows well both castles overlooking the "Alpensee" lake. It is quite a climb to go to either castle but the way to Neuschwanstein is quite steep! We did both in one day and on foot, aren't we brave...

Thank you so much for your regular visits!

Thanks for your valuable tips and/or constructive input!!

I didn'know Neuschwanstein was so close to Hohenschwangau, now I see it. I can also imagine why Neuschwanstein is much more famous than Hohenschwangau, it's more like a fairytale-palace, and Hohenschwangau more like a medieval knight castle: more massive and less elegant. Good I learned this from your series, Manuela! This picture could well be a nice postcard, thanks.

@Illuci: Well actually I must say that I was more impressed by Hohenschwangau because of the mediterranean building style (the achitect was italian). Neuschwanstein might look more attractive from the distance but when you are near it looks like a fortress. Besides they were built years apart since the King Ludwig grew up in Hohenschwangau. We decided not to enter neither of the castles as entrance costs were rather high, lasted only half an hour and photography was forbidden. Furthermore at Neuschwanstein there were about 300 odd steps up and about the same amount down. Don't misunderstand me, I am not greedy or hate exercise but I am certaily not paying to see only feet and bottoms :(
I will soon post photos about Neuschwanstein after a little castle break :)
Thanks for the visit.

Three constructions for three styles. Very instructive series.

I can confirm that the entrance price to Neuschwanstein is just as steep as the climb up to it.I was there back in the 80´s and we walked up saw the price had a beer and went back down.Ican´t wait to see more photos though.

@Anthony Lambert: Hello Anthony! If you think it was too expensive in the 80's then imagine how much it is now!!!!
As of next Monday I will start posting about Neuschwanstein. Hope to "read you"... :)
Thanks for your visit!
