love this composition. I'm not sure what all the posts are for but it certainly makes for a lovely picture.

@Marion: Thanks a lot!
I believe they are supposed to break the waves, and help to avoid the sand dunes to be swept away.
They call them "buhnen" = "spur dykes" in English. Thanks for the visit and interest ;)

I have never seen it before neither... the wooden poles are to prevent the sand & dunes to be washed away.

I've never seen so many breakwaters used together like this on a beach. It certainly makes for an interesting composition the way you've placed them.
